Ardent Health Faces Cybersecurity Crisis

Welcome back to another issue of Don’t Get Got. Today our focus is on the recent hack of a regional hospital chain. Ardent Health Services, a trusted healthcare partner, is currently grappling with a cybersecurity incident, and we want to make sure you're in the loop.

What Happened? 🏥

On November 23, Ardent fell victim to a ransomware attack. Yep, the kind where cyber-criminals lock up your data and demand money to get it back. Quick to react, Ardent's tech team took the drastic but necessary step of shutting down their entire network. That means no access to corporate servers, software, internet, or clinical programs for the time being.

Impact on Care 🩺

Don't worry-patient care is still a top priority. Ardent Hospitals, emergency rooms, and clinics are all up and running, ensuring everyone still gets the care they need. However, Ardent is being extremely cautious, rescheduling some non-emergent, elective procedures, and redirecting a few emergency room patients to nearby hospitals until they sort out their IT mess.

Ardent didn't waste any time. They've reported the incident to the authorities, brought in the cybersecurity big guns, and are working overtime to get their systems back on track. BUT-and it’s a big “BUT”-Ardent can not confirm the extent of any compromised patient data/PII (personally identifiable information).
