The holidays create perfect cover. Crowded stores, empty houses during holiday parties, and neighborhoods full of expensive deliveries create endless opportunities. Add in our distraction with gift lists and party planning, plus the pressure to find "perfect gifts," and you've got a recipe for letting our guard down.

💡 Street Smarts

While holiday crime is getting more sophisticated, most of it is still opportunistic. Basic street smarts and awareness go a long way in keeping you off the target list.

Here’s some tips to live by these next few weeks:

• Track your packages like a hawk and grab them ASAP. Better yet, get them sent to secure locations or install a doorbell camera.

• Break down those big-ticket item boxes before recycling. No need to advertise your new PS5 to the whole neighborhood.

• Shopping? Be sure to park in a well lit area. And place all bags in the trunk

• If you're traveling, make your house look lived-in. Random lights > timed lights that scream "I'm on vacation!"
